The current floating cover was installed in December 2011 and plays a critical role in maintaining water quality.

Silver Lake Reservoir Complex is an Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) water operations facility, which originated as the site of Silver Lake and Ivanhoe Reservoirs built in the early 1900s as open reservoirs.

Stormwater Capture Parks Program
In partnership with the Department of Recreation and Parks and the Department of Public Works, LADWP has developed an innovative Stormwater Capture Parks Program to collect rainwater and urban runoff at nine local parks in the East San Fernando Valley.

The Tom LaBonge Headworks Water Complex will replace the Silver Lake and Ivanhoe reservoirs located at the Silver Lake Reservoir Complex, for the purposes of safeguarding and improving drinking water quality.
