LADWP crews will complete necessary maintenance work on the Rowena Reservoir ponds to clean and repair the existing filtration system. The ponds that comprise the water feature at Rowena Reservoir serve an aesthetic purpose only. They contain a circulation and filtration system consisting of six pumps that serve to maintain a desirable water quality.

To complete the work, crews drained the ponds in early March 2021 and work will take place to repair and/or replace the filtration pumps, remove algae, and clean the ponds. Once the repairs are completed, crews will refill the ponds and test the repaired pumps.

The Rowena Water Feature sits atop a 10 million gallon underground potable water storage tank, known as the Rowena Reservoir. The open reservoir previously at that site was taken out of service in the response to state regulations requiring that open air reservoirs be covered or taken out of service.
