LADWP’s Trunk Line Construction Crew installing field fabricated 30-inch welded Steel Pipe at the intersection of Occidental Blvd. and Council St.
Project Background
The Coronado Trunk Line (CTL) Project is a water system infrastructure improvement project that will install approximately 7,400 feet of 30-inch welded steel pipe. It will transport water from the Toyon Tanks to the Solano Reservoir service area in Rampart Village, Silver Lake, and Echo Park. The Solano Reservoir has been operational since 1904 and is in need of repairs. The CTL Project will improve system reliability and provide service to this area while repairs and improvements to the Solano Reservoir are being made. As part of this project, a regulating relief station and flow control station will be constructed on Robinson Street north of Beverly Boulevard.
Construction Information
Construction on the Coronado Trunk Line will take place on Robinson Street from Beverly Boulevard to Council Street. Work will then continue on Council Street from Robinson to Coronado Streets, then finishing up along Coronado Street from Council to Sunset Boulevard.
To reduce the impacts to the community, the project is divided into 11 work areas. Construction will move from area to area to minimize impacts throughout the duration of the project.
Project Schedule
LADWP prepared an Initial Study / Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) to analyze the potential for impacts associated with the CTLP. It was made available for public review and comments in Summer 2019 at www.ladwp.com/envnotices. The project was presented to the LADWP Board of Water and Power Commissioners on November 5, 2019.
Construction began on January 13, 2020 and is expected to be completed in early Fall 2024. Work hours will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and extended hours may be necessary. Some Saturday work may also be needed.
