Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer

Kendall Helm, PhD is LADWP’s Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer, responsible for driving enterprise strategy that integrates sustainability, positioning the organization to reach its net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and water resiliency goals, and leveraging contributions from the Environmental Affairs and Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs teams. As an economist, Kendall’s expertise is in optimizing investment into profitable sustainability activities that enhance business and markets.

Joining us from Sempra, Kendall was most recently Vice President of People and Culture at San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), where she was responsible for building a high-performance culture needed to deliver clean, safe, and reliable energy to 3.7 million customers. Prior to that, she held positions as Vice President of Energy Supply, Vice President of Customer Operations, and Director of Investor Relations. With a long career focused on international development and sustainability, Kendall has also worked for the U.S. Government Accountability Office and the World Bank.

Kendall has a BA in Economics and International Studies from the University of Denver and a PhD in Economics from American University. A native of Colorado, she loves dogs, hiking, scuba diving and golfing.
