Lower Energy Costs at No Cost to You with the Commercial Direct Install Program

The Commercial Direct Install Program (CDI) is one of the largest energy-efficiency initiatives offered by LADWP, directly supporting the City’s clean energy and decarbonization goals. It provides free energy-efficiency retrofits for small and medium-sized business customers—at no cost to you.

After a temporary hiatus, the CDI program relaunched on July 1, 2025, in partnership with Willdan Group. In addition to popular lighting upgrades, it now includes refrigeration measures, offering even more opportunities for energy savings.

Energy efficiency upgrade opportunities include:

• Interior & Exterior LED Lighting - Install brighter, longer-lasting, and cost-saving lighting at your facility.
• High-Efficiency Refrigeration Motors - Keep your refrigeration running smoothly while using less energy.
• Automatic Door Closers - Improve insulation, reduce energy waste, and maintain optimal temperatures.

How the Program Works:

1. Qualify - Contact Willdan to confirm your facility’s eligibility.
2. Assess - A free energy assessment will be performed.
3. Installation - Upgrades will be installed by a program-approved subcontractor at your convenience—at zero cost to you.
4. Start Saving - Once upgrades are complete, enjoy the energy and cost savings.
