General Information
Metered water service can be temporarily provided from a fire hydrant in the vicinity of your project. Construction projects and other activities that need water service for a limited time period can benefit from this service.
Cost and Scheduling
The charge for installation, removal, and 30 days of meter rental can be found in the Schedule of Charges for Water Facilities. After the initial 30 days of use, meter rental will be charged at the current rate per month which are updated each fiscal year and are in effect from July 1 through June 30. Please be prepared to pay a refundable deposit if you are not an approved credit customer. After installation you will be billed for the water consumption you used. You will be billed until the service is removed. A removal date will be requested at the time the service is ordered.
Information Required
In addition to completing the financial arrangements, you will be asked to provide the following information:
- Exact location of the fire hydrant you plan to use. (Address or cross street names and on which side of the street.)
- Desired meter installation and removal date
- Purpose for which the water will be used
- Name, telephone number, and email address of a project contact person
- If you are representing a company:
- Letter of Authorization
- Corporate telephone number
- Corporate ID number
- Federal Tax ID number

*We accept credit card payment for initial temporary water service installations. Payment Arrangements for new temporary service installation are made at any one of our Customer Service Centers.
