Upper Franklin Canyon Road Repair Project Update

Updated: 3.10.2026

Franklin Canyon Drive is now open to all traffic. Any remaining work will be performed with temporary shutdowns and/or flaggers.

Project Description

LADWP’s Upper Franklin Canyon Road Repair Project will repair and restore the roadway for both vehicle and pedestrian access to the rest of the park area.

Construction Information

LADWP will be repairing approximately 2,200 feet of road repair, installing a retaining wall, and installing large stones to minimize erosion and increase stabilization on the hillside.

The Upper Franklin Canyon Road Repair Project will allow for both vehicle and pedestrian roadway access. This road repair will also allow for emergency service use in the event of an emergency. The retaining wall will keep the hillside stable to reduce the amount of hillside runoff onto the road.

General construction impacts will be noise, traffic, and dust in the construction area. No water or power services are to be impacted by this work.
