Project Description
Sunset West Trunk Line Unit 1 Project is an important water system infrastructure investment that will improve reliability in the west Los Angeles area. The trunk line was originally installed in the 1930s and is more than 80 years old. This trunk line is operating past its useful service life and is scheduled for upgrades.
During Phase 1, LADWP replaced a 550-foot section of the trunk line with a new 36-inch diameter steel pipeline. This phase covered the portion of Sunset Blvd directly west of Stone Canyon and parallels Marymount High School. Phase 1 was completed in August 2021.
In Phase 2, LADWP will replace 3,400 feet of pipe, ranging from 12to 36-inches in diameter, and install a flow pressure regulating valve in place of a butterfly valve in an existing vault. This phase will primarily focus on the intersection of Stone Canyon Road and Sunset Boulevard extending a short distance north along Stone Canyon.

Phase 2 Design: June 2021 to September 2026
