Project Description
The Via De La Paz and Sunset Boulevard Water Regulator Station Rehabilitation Project is part of an on-going Capital Improvement Program to rehabilitate water regulator stations throughout the City of Los Angeles. The project is an important part of LADWP’s water distribution system and will improve reliability for customers.
Built in 1952, the Via De La Paz and Sunset Boulevard water regulator station’s existing pipeline will be replaced with new steel pipes and valves both inside and outside of the vault. This project is essential to maintaining LADWP’s water infrastructure.
The Via De La Paz and Sunset Boulevard Water Regulator Station is the 3rd regulator station in the Pacific Palisades to be rehabilitated.
Construction Information
The Via De La Paz Regulator Station is an underground concrete vault on Via De La Paz, north of Sunset Boulevard. Its purpose is to reduce water pressure as water flows through different pipes in the distribution system. This ensures that water pressure is at the appropriate level before being served to customers.
All piping and valves, inside and outside the vault, will be replaced with new steel pipes; however, the existing concrete vault will remain in place.
There will not be a water service outage while crews work on this project but note there will be a single overnight work shift to install a temporary bypass line. No water service outages are expected during that work or the rest of the project.

Traffic and Parking
To provide adequate space for construction crews and ensure public safety, all lanes on Via De La Paz, from Sunset Blvd. to the first alley going north, will be fully closed for the duration of the project.
Detour signs will be posted to direct traffic around the closure. “Temporary Tow-Away, No Stopping” and “No Parking” signs will be posted along the northeast corner of Sunset Boulevard and Via De La Paz.
All Sunset Boulevard lanes will not be affected except the left turn pocket onto Via De La Paz.
