Background and Project Description
Distribution Station 34, a three-story facility, was originally identified as a facility that needed to be seismically upgraded following the 1987 Whittier earthquake. The original plan was to replace the station with a new distributing station, Distribution Station 126. After evaluating the cost of acquiring a new property and building a new station, the determination was made to upgrade the existing building. The work will consist of installing full-height, reinforced shear walls in both horizontal directions. This will bring the building up to current City of Los Angeles building codes.
